Technical Details


All the FTIR spectrometers cover the 7800-350 cm-1 spectral range and may be equipped with the following accessories:
- A wide range of cells with fixed or variable pathlengths allowing experiments in solution
- Specific cells with long pathlengths dedicated to the study of gas samples
- Home made cells with the control of both temperature and pressure (25-400°C, 1-400 bar)
- Specular reflection with fixed (12°, 56°) or variable (15° - 85°) angles of incidence
- Diffuse reflection
- Attenuated total reflection (Golden gate with control of temperature, Silver gate)


Softwares have been developed to:
- Simulate infrared spectra (transmittance, reflectance, PM-IRRAS) of multilayer systems under various experimental conditions (angle of incidence, website, polarization, number of layers ...)
- Determine optical constants (refractive index and extinction coefficient) of materials or layers from Kramers-Kronig analyses

Nicolet 7400 TT

- Beamsplitters: Ge-KBr (7800-350 cm-1) and Quartz (25000-2800 cm-1)
- Sources: mid- and near-infrared
- Spectral resolution: up to 0.125 cm-1
- Dynamic alignment
- Possiblity of double modulation experiments
- Sigma-Aldrich database
Applications:
- Standard experiments on liquid or gas samples in the near- and mid-infrared
- Experiments under supercritic conditions


FTIR spectrometer “Nicolet 6700” (Thermo Optek) coupled to an NicPlan microscope

- Detectors: DLaTGS with KBr (12500-350 cm-1) and polyethylene (700-50 cm-1) windows
- Beamsplitters: Ge-KBr (7800-350 cm-1) and Solid Substrate (700-50 cm-1)
- Source: mid- and far-infrared
- Spectral resolution: up to 0.125 cm-1
- Dynamic alignment
- Coupled to an IR microscope (NicPlan) equipped with a MCT detector (7800-650 cm-1)
- Micro-ATR and micro-IRRAS objectives
- Sigma-Aldrich database
Applications:
- Standard experiments on solid or liquid samples in the mid- and far-infrared
- Experiments on solid samples with a spatial resolution of about 50 micrometers

- Detectors: DLaTGS with KBr (12500-350 cm-1) and polyethylene (700-30 cm-1) windows
- Beamsplitters: Ge-KBr (7500-370 cm-1) and Multilayer far IR (680-30 cm-1)
- Source: mid- and far-infrared
- Spectral resolution: up to 0.4 cm-1
- Permanently aligned RockSolid
- Can be coupled to a home-made cryogenic set-up allowing matrix isolation of intermediate reactive species
Applications:
- Standard experiments on solid or liquid samples in the mid- and far-infrared
- Cryogenic matrix analyses


FTIR spectrometer “Nexus 670” (Thermo Optek) : ATR, PM-IRRAS and PM-IRLD measurements

- Source: mid-infrared
- Spectral resolution: up to 0.125 cm-1

- Coupled to PM-IRRAS home made system (4000-850 cm-1)
- Coupled to PM-IRLD home made system (4000-850 cm-1)
Applications:
- ATR experiments in the mid-infrared using Golden gate and Silver gate accessories
- PM-IRRAS experiments to characterize ultra thin films deposited onto metallic substrates and SAMs grafted onto SiO2/Gold substrates
- PM-IRLD experiments to determine linear dichroism of thin films (photoinduced orientation in azopolymer films, molecular orientation in stretched polymers ...)

- Spectral resolution: up to 0.125 cm-1

- Coupled to VCD home made system (4000-850 cm-1)
Applications:
- Standard experiments on solid or liquid samples in the mid-infrared
- VCD experiments to determine the absolute configuration and/or conformation of chiral molecules in solution

- Coupled to PMA50 compartment for VCD analyses (4000-850 cm-1)

- VCD experiments to determine the absolute configuration and/or conformation of chiral molecules in solution
